Privacy Policy

How I handle your data

I’m dedicated to protecting your privacy and this Privacy Policy explains how I process and safeguard any personal information you give while using my website.

I respect the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), which require me to:

  • Disclose what data I collect about you

  • Explain to you how I use that information

  • Hand your data over to you in a format you can read, or delete it altogether, if you ask me to

But the regulations don’t require me to bore you to tears with legal jargon. So, I’ll try to keep things as simple, straightforward, and brief as I can.

What personal information do I collect?

If you complete the contact form on my website, I collect the following pieces of personal information:

  • Your name

  • Your email address

  • Your organisation name (if you provide it)

  • Your organisation web address (if you provide it)

I’ll only ever use this information for the reason you supplied it (usually, to get back to your query).

I’ll never share, trade, sell, or otherwise disclose this information to others, unless I have obtained your permission or am legally required to do so.

You can review the personal information I hold about you at any time by sending a request to me at sarah@carnillcopy.com

If you believe the information I hold about you is inaccurate or incomplete, let me know in writing at sarah@carnillcopy.com and I’ll promptly correct it.

If you don’t want me to hold your personal information, email me and I’ll delete everything immediately.

Cookies

This website uses cookies—small files or pieces of text placed on your device, usually to improve the user experience.

Necessary cookies are always used—they allow Squarespace, my hosting platform, to securely serve my website to you.

However, non-essential analytics and performance cookies will not be placed on your device unless you give permission.

You give permission for these non-essential cookies by accepting them via the website cookie banner. You can use the banner to manage your preferences or withdraw your consent at any time.

If you prefer, you can use your web browser’s cookie settings to determine how my website uses cookies.

However, if you use your browser settings to block all cookies (including the essential ones), it may affect your site experience.

Analytics

Squarespace analytics collects personal data when you visit my website, including:

  • Information about your browser, network, and device

  • Web pages you visited before coming to my website

  • Web pages you view while on my website

  • Your IP address

I share this information with Squarespace, my website analytics provider, to learn about site traffic and activity.

Squarespace needs the data to run my website, and to protect and improve its platform and services. It analyses the data in a de-personalised form.

Links to other websites

This website may contain links to other websites that are not operated by me. This Privacy Policy does not address the privacy policy and other practices of any third parties, including any third party operating any website or service that may be accessible via a link on my website.

I have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services. And I strongly advise you to review the privacy policy of every site you visit.

Users click on external links at their own risk, and I cannot be held liable for any damages or implications caused by visiting any external links on my website.

How do I process data?

When you submit information to my website via the contact form, I collect the requested data to track and respond to your query.

I share this information with Squarespace, my website hosting provider so they can provide my website services.

I also share this information with Google Workspace for storage. Google Workspace is also my email provider.

Google is based in the US, but it’s GDPR-compliant too.

I don’t currently have a newsletter, online shop, or other mailing list, so I don’t store, process, or manage any personal data in any other way or anywhere else.

Should that change, I’ll ask for your permission before I add you to any list. I’ll also update this Privacy Policy to let you know what information I’ll be collecting, how I’ll use it, and how I’ll keep it safe.

How personal information is stored

I’m dedicated to guaranteeing the security of your information. To prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, I’ve implemented appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial measures to protect and secure the information I collect online.

I will only keep your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected, including to comply with legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.

When no longer needed, I’ll securely delete or anonymise your data.

Want to know more?

I hope I’ve set your mind at rest. But if you have any questions or concerns, drop me an email at sarah@carnillcopy.com

Changes to the policy

If I change the contents of this policy, those changes will become effective the moment I publish them on this website.

I recommend reviewing this page occasionally to ensure you’re satisfied with any changes made since your last visit.
